The Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Attribute Standards 1300 ff.) require a quality assurance and improvement program covering all aspects of the internal audit activity and to periodically perform internal and external quality assessments. Accordingly, FINMA Circulars recommend internal and external quality assessment reviews. IIA Standard 1312 mandates that conformance to the standards as well as the effectiveness of the internal audit activities are to be reviewed by an independent assessor at least every 5 years. This formal IIA course “Internal Audit Quality Assessment: Performing an Internal or External Review” focuses on the assessment process used in periodic internal (Standard 1311) and external quality assessments (Standard 1312). Based on active workshop participation and an open book exam at the end of the workshop an IIA quality assessor certificate will be granted.
