  • Understand the basics of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): international standards, phases, terminology
  • Learn how to define an adequate policy and governance in the context of ERM
  • Get introduced to and learn to use several risk assessment techniques to help decision-makers
  • Identify challenges and opportunities linked to ERM through case studies and role playing

Note: this course addresses all ERM aspects from a transversal point of view; it does not focus on any specific domain


  • ISO 31000 and COSO, main definitions and risk assessment phases
  • ERM policy and risk appetite
  • ERM governance: links with company governance, organizational structure options, definition of appropriate roles and responsibilities
  • Basics of the theory of probability
  • Assessment techniques (FMECA, HazOp, Event and Decision trees, Fault trees, Monte-carlo methods, NPV, Sensitivity analysis, Stress test, BIA, etc.) and their usefulness as tools to support decision-making
  • Practical exercises (case studies, risk analyses, role playing games)
